Ordinary cast iron Roll
It can be subdivided into cold hard cast iron rollers, medium and low alloy infinite cold hard cast iron rollers, and medium and low alloy ductile iron rollers.
Cold hard cast iron mill roll
It is a type of cast iron obtained by using the undercooling of molten iron itself and the quenching of the mold surface. The surface of the rolling mill body is quenched to form a white layer, with high hardness and good wear resistance.
Medium and low alloy infinite chilled cast iron mill roll
It is a material between chilled cast iron and gray cast iron, and the working layer matrix of the rolling body contains graphite, and there is no clear boundary between the working layer of the rolling body and the core.
High nickel chromium infinite cold hardening composite cast iron mill roll
Infinite chilled cast iron is a material that lies between chilled cast iron and grey cast iron. There is uniformly distributed graphite in the matrix structure of the working layer of the roll body. The content of graphite increases from the surface of the roll body inward with depth, and the hardness decreases accordingly. Therefore, there is no clear boundary between the working layer of the roll body and the core, also known as unbounded chilled cast iron roll. When the material contains high levels of chromium, nickel, and molybdenum alloy elements, it is a high nickel chromium infinite chilled cast iron rolling mill, produced using full flushing (overflow method) or centrifugal composite casting process. There are a large number of carbides in the matrix structure of the working layer of the rolling mill body, so it has high wear resistance. The presence of graphite in the matrix structure makes it have good heat resistance and is widely used as a roll for precision rolling of wide, medium and thick plate mills and strip mills.
High chromium composite cast iron mill roll
High chromium composite cast iron rollers, due to their high chromium content, can improve the hardness, wear resistance, and hardenability of cast iron, giving it good comprehensive performance. They are commonly used in rolling scenarios that require high roller performance.
Alloy ductile iron mill roll
Taking centrifugal casting composite ductile iron rolling mill as an example, it is a new type of rolling mill material, mainly characterized by the composite preparation of cast iron matrix with other materials (such as steel, etc.) to improve the performance of the rolling mill. Its raw materials mainly include ductile iron matrix, steel core, and casting protective material. The ductile iron matrix is improved in mechanical and wear resistance by adding different alloying elements such as chromium, nickel, etc; The hardness of the steel core should be higher than that of the substrate to provide better flattening and wear resistance; Casting protective material is used to reduce oxidation of liquid metal during injection into molds. This type of rolling mill has good wear resistance and corrosion resistance, high flattening and ductility, good mechanical properties and impact toughness, longer service life, easier maintenance, and good economy. It is mainly used in steel strip mills, continuous casting machines, rolling mills, hot rolling mills, etc
